Great opportunity to rent one of two rooms (one with ensuite spa bath) until March 2011.
The house is located in the quiet, funky suburb of Yarraville, only 7km from Melbourne's CBD (taking approx 10 minutes by car, 20 min by train).
The house is a renovated Californian bungalow, spacious and open-plan with polished wooden floor boards and a great kitchen. It is furnished, including ducted heating, aircon, TV, dishwasher, large 12-seater dining room table, security system, washing machine, sound-proof music studio, solar hot water, rain water tank... The garden has a large deck, a full sized BBQ and wood-fired pizza oven.
You can have your choice of two double bedrooms, the other will remain as a spare room. Both rooms have polished floor boards, large built in wardrobes with drawers and shelves, full length mirrors, ceiling fan, window with blinds and ducted heating. One room is in the quieter location, off the front hallway. The other room is slightly larger, is entered from the lounge in the middle of the house and features a light-filled bathroom with spa bath. Through the bathroom is a central toilet. Included in the price is optional bedroom furniture: a double bed and mattress, bed side table, dressing table or large desk.
The first, smaller room is $195 per week and the second, larger room with ensuite is $210 per week, plus expenses. Expenses are $60 pw inclusive of gas, electricity & water. Negotiable - $12/wk per person for fortnightly professional house cleaner. Telephone & internet arrangements negotiable. Full bedding (2 double doonas, range of pillows, sheets), towels and a TV for your personal use are available to rent for a token amount, or bring your own.
The location of the house is great. Picturesque 'Yarraville Village', with its shops, restaurants, pubs, bars and the Yarraville train station is a 15 minute walk away (see pictures). The Village is home to numerous award winning restaurants and cafes, reflecting Melbourne's multi cultural nature. We also like to go to the beautifully restored art-deco Sun Theatre.
A shorter stroll from the house (under 5 minutes) takes you to local shops which provide a convenience store, butcher, grocer, post office, hair dresser, chemist, pizza restaurant, fish & chip shop, library, liquor store etc. Also strolling distance is Cruickshank Park, which has free tennis courts, fitness stations and walking tracks. There is a large supermarket about 10 minutes walk away and we buy most of our fresh produce and seafood (cheaply) from Footscray Market.
Many bike paths are in the area, and Williamstown beach is an easy 5km trip.
We are a married couple - non-smoking, with two smallish dogs. F is a 38yr old Australian tradesman who is young at heart, friendly, likes to have people around him all the time, is busy with work and hobbies and who enjoys a drink with his mates on the weekend. I am 33yrs old, extraverted but also enjoy quiet time, not much of a drinker at the moment, grew up overseas, consider myself open minded. I work part time in research, with variable hours, sometimes from home.
On the typical week night we are usually both home, dropping all our bags and the mail in a pile on the kitchen table, chat whilst cooking dinner, walk the dogs, eat together in front of the TV, do a quick clean up, then read or internet before bed. You are welcome to cook with us if that suits you. The house needs to be fairly quiet from about 9.30pm, as F gets up very early for work. On the weekends we might go out , have people over or just potter at home. As summer approaches we will probably have some BBQs or pizza oven parties, or head to the bush for camping.
